Van Marwijk: "It will be great but difficult"
Thursday, 8 July 2010
The whole Dutch
team gathered around a TV set last night to see who
was going to be their opponents in the final of the
2010 World Cup in South Africa. In the end they saw
Spain beating Germany 1-0 and so it's the team of Del
Bosque who will face them in Soccer City on Sunday.
"Spain are
of course a great and appealing opponent," Bert
van Marwijk said in a first reaction. "They are
the reigning European Champions. I really like the way
they play football, based on the philosophy of Barcelona
and with a lot of players from that club."
"I keep Spain
and Barcelona as an example of how I want Holland to
play: offensive, attractive, on the opponent's half
and when they lose the ball they put a lot of pressure
on the opponent with the whole team. It will be a great,
but difficult final. One we are really looking forward
to."
Before the game
Van Marwijk said he didn't mind who would come through:
"Both Spain and Germany have greatly impressed
me."
