Holland in same lineup against Cameroon
Tuesday, 22 June 2010
The Dutch national football team
will start the game against Cameroon on Thursday night
in Capetown in the same lineup as they did in the first
two group games.
Bondscoach Bert van Marwijk
didn't allow any journalists at the training session
on Tuesday morning. He did put in a training match between
the team that started against Denmark and Japan and
the reserves.
Rafael van der Vaart appeared recovered
from a light neck injury that made him finish training
early on Sunday. Arjen Robben and Eljero Elia played
with the reserves. Robben might get his first minutes
on the team as a substitute on Thursday though.
Holland only need one point against
Cameroon to clinch first spot in Group E.
Van Marwijk indicated on Saturday,
straight after the game against Japan (1-0) he would
play his strongest lineup against Cameroon. He said
he wanted to let his players play in the strongest lineup
as much as possible. Two years ago Marco van Basten
rested some of his key players in the third group game
against Romania, after Holland had won the first two
games as well. Holland then went on to lose the quarterfinal
against Russia.
Nigel de Jong, Robin van Persie
and Gregory van der Wiel are the three players who can
not take a yellow card until the quarterfinals. They'll
be suspended if they get another yellow card. After
the quarterfinals all players start again with a clean
sheet.
The team will fly to Capetown tonight.
On Wednesday they will train in the beautiful Green
Point Stadium at 20h15.
Holland's lineup against Cameroon:
