Van der Wiel: "Japan have a good team"
Sunday 20 June 2010
The fact that Holland had trouble
beating Japan on Saturday had everything to do with
the strength of Japan, says Gregory van der Wiel. Japan
is regarded as a relatively small football country but
according to the right-back that is unjustified.
"Japan have a good team,"
he tells FCUpdate.nl.
"You could see that last year
when we played a friendly against them. It's not easy
playing against Japan. We had to remain patient, don't
give away anything at the back and wait for that one
chance. With our qualities you know that chance will
come."
Yet Van der Wiel admits it isn't
always easy to remain patient in games when it's not
working out as hoped. "But you must. You must remain
disciplined."
With the victory over Japan Van
der Wiel continued a nice series. The Ajax-player has
never lost a game with the national team. "That's
right. I'm still unbeaten. I hope it can stay that way
for another five games or so."
Holland last lost a game in September
2008, a friendly against Australia: 1-2.
