Netherlands-Denmark 2-0
Van Bronckhorst: "Six more games..."
Monday, 14 June 2010
Dutch captain Giovanni Van Bronckhorst
was happy with the three points, "but," he
said, "in the first half we didn't gel. There was
no depth in our play, the defenders couldn't play the
ball forward."
"Yet when it's not going as
you might have hoped it's a matter of staying focussed,
staying patient. We did just that. Of course we were
put in the driver seat by their own goal and then we
started playing better. When Elia came on I thought
we played well."
It was Van Bronckhorst's 100th
cap and had a finish such a celebration deserves: "Yes,
such a first game of the World Cup is always tough.
It's great to play my 100th game here. But it can get
even better. We've six games left to play here."
With his 100th game Van Bronckhorst
is now member of a club of four players who broke the
100 caps barrier: Filip Cocu (101), Frank de Boer (112)
and Edwin van der Sar (130).
Rafael van der Vaart broke in the
Top
10 of the most capped players, with his 79th game
for Holland, leveling himself with Dennis Bergkamp and
Patrick Kluivert.
