Netherlands-Denmark 2-0
Van Persie bemoans yellow card
Monday, 14 June 2010
Robin van Persie bemoaned the yellow
card he got from the French referee in the second half
against Denmark for a foul on Kjaer, especially when
he heard he will carry the card with him until the quarterfinal.
"That is rough," the forward said, as there
is a chance he will have to miss a game because of a
suspension.
"I don't even think the foul
was worth a yellow card," Van Persie said. "I
was just trying to block the ball."
Yet Van Persie had been warned
in the first half for a foul and new he was being watched.
In fact he was lucky to not get a second yellow when
he put the ball in the net after the whistle had gone
for offside. "I didn't hear the whistle with all
these toots and noise around here."
Van Persie, who was taken off in
the 77th minute and played an unremarkable game, was
brief about it: "It wasn't brilliant, but we got
three points."
