Marco van Basten wouldn't have
picked the same team as Bert
van Marwijk. On Dutch TV Van Marwijk's predecessor
named the team he would have played against Denmark
today, and his choice was different. Van Basten would
first of all have opted for a 4-3-3 system, with only
one holding midfielder.
Van Bommel, who wasn't part of
the team at the last tournament with Van Basten (Euro
2008) wouldn't be in the starting lineup. Instead Van
Basten would have picked Nigel de Jong. Another difference
is that Van Basten would have chosen Elia instead of
Kuyt and that he would have played Robben, even though
the Bayern Munich player joined the team only Saturday.

Stekelenburg
Van der Wiel, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Van Bronckhorst;
Sneijder, De Jong, Van der Vaart;
Robben, Van Persie, Elia.
