Weiss: "Holland were better"
Monday, 28 June 2010
Slovak coach Vladimir
Weiss said Holland were the deserved winners of today's
round of 16 game against his team (2-1). "Over
the whole I believe they were the stronger side,"
Weiss said. "That is nothing to be ashamed of.
Still, we had chances to equalize. It's a shame we didn't
convert them."
Like most who saw
the game Weiss identified Arjen Robben as the biggest
difference between the two teams: "We were preparing
for three days for Robben, for his way of playing but
he is an absolute genius. He really knows what he is
doing. When I saw him in the line-up I knew he would
make the Dutch line-up 50 per cent stronger and I was
correct."
But he also said the
players travel home with their heads up high. "We
did well. The players have proven to have a great mentality.
The victory over Italy was of course the highlight."
