27 May 2010
Although Bert van Marwijk is yet
to announce the four players who will be dropped from
the current Dutch squad of 27, Vernon Anita confirmed
that he is one of the four.
The Ajax-player lost out to Edson
Braafheid in the fight for the position of left back.
"Obviously I am disappointed,"
Anita said in a first reaction. "But a month ago
I could have never imagined to even be here. As a player
it's disappointing, but I'm going home with the good
feeling that I came this far and made my debut for the
Dutch team."
According to Anita Holland manager
Van Marwijk had told all the players which four players
will be dropped from the squad. "This morning we
were called into his office one by one and he explained
his decision," Anita said.
Dutch daily Telegraaf says the
other three players are Orlando Engelaar, Ron Vlaar
and Jeremain Lens. Van Marwijk will officially announce
his decision at a press conference scheduled for 17h00.
