Holland remain in fourth spot world ranking
Wednesday 26 May 2010
Holland will start the World Cup
as the number four of the FIFA World Ranking. The team
of coach Bert van Marwijk trails the teams of Brazil,
Spain and Portugal.
Because few international games
have been played in recent weeks there were few chances
at the top of the ranking compared to last month's table.
In the top 10 only France moved up from the 10th to
the 9th place, at the expense of Croatia.
With a 19th place Cameroon are
the highest ranked opponents of Holland during the group
stages. The other two opponents, Denmark and Japan,
are 36th and 45th. Mexico, tonight's opponent in Freiburg
is ranked 17th.
Paraguay, who seem a very probable
opponent in round 2, are ranked 31st at the moment,
but they are like to move up a number of spots once
the tournament commences.
Only one team from the top 10 of
the ranking will not be present in South Africa: Croatia.
