Dirk Kuyt can live with explanation Van
Persie
Thursday 20 May 2010
Dirk Kuyt doesn't make a bone about
the comments of Robin van Persie. The Arsenal forward
last week said that he would like to play with a forward
line of Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Arjen
Robben and himself, indirectly ruling out a position
for Kuyt. Kuyt doesn't see a problem with it.
"Everyone
is in title to his own opinion," Kuyt says diplomatically
after the first training session today in Seefeld, Austria.
"That's okay. But in the end it's the boss who
decides."
"Besides, I know how things
work in the media. A reporter asks Van Persie whether
he would like to play with Sneijder, Robben and Van
der Vaart. He says yes and then it's nothing but these
four players for a week. I can live with the explanation
Van Persie gave me. And now we should stop talking about
it. There's been enough talking," says Kuyt.
"When I'm in good shape I
can be very important for this team. All boys in the
squad will think the same about themselves. That's only
natural. You don't win the World Cup with just 11 players.
We need each other. I can play as a center forward,
but I know full well that Van Persie and Huntelaar are
aiming for that spot as well. Arjen Robben has done
well this season for Bayern on the right wing. We'll
see how it goes. I will give my best, that's for sure."
During the European Championships
in Austria and Switzerland Kuyt was the regular right
winger for Holland.
