De Jong: "Not to play was right decision"
27 May 2010
Nigel de Jong didn't play against
Mexico yesterday. The Manchester City-midfielder stayed
on the bench for 90 minutes because of light knee injury.
"Nothing to worry about," he emphasized.
"It crept in during training,
so resting was the best option. And it was the right
decision. It's better to miss a game now than later
on during the tournament. Besides there will be two
more friendlies to get some match practice."
De Jong will be back on the training
ground today. He is expected to form a pair in the defensive
midfield together with Mark van Bommel of Bayern Munich.
