"Robben can play either left or right"
Monday 24 May 2010
For bondscoach Bert van
Marwijk it's not self evident that Arjen Robben will
play on the right wing for Holland during the World
Cup in South Africa. Left-footed Robben excelled on
the right wing for Bayern Munich this season. "But
Bayern are not Holland," Van Marwijk said today.
"You see it more and more
that left-footed players play on the right wing and
right-footed players appear on the left. Sometimes that
works out really well. But I feel Robben can do equally
well on both wings. And it's not just about Robben.
I have other players to consider as well. It's all about
putting together the best possible team. So we will
start with a team of which I think has the best chance
to win."
Robben usually plays on the left
for Holland, with Dirk Kuyt on the right. But Robin
van Persie said last week he would like to play with
Robben on the right, Van der Vaart on the left and Sneijder
behind him.
