Huntelaar: "We can go home with some
satisfaction"
Saturday 28 March 2009
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar opened the
score tonight on the half hour against Scotland.
"At first I wasn't involved
much, but once the Scots backed down a bit I got to
play my game a bit more," the Real Madrid forward
said.
"We knew the Scots would start
very energetic. You need to adapt to that and pass the
ball around at a high pace. We didn't manage to do that
at first, so I tried to get a bit more physical myself.
But after a while the storm was over."
Huntelaar scored on the half hour.
"Of course it's nice to score.
I received a good cross from Mark van Bommel. He too
had seen that the second post was unmarked. It was a
pleasant game and we converted our chances well. So
we can go home with some satisfaction."

"The intellectualisation
of football has
always foundered
on a simple problem-
-the players. Doing
all your most
rewarding thinking
with your feet seems
to dull the philo-
sophical impulse.
Unless, of course,
you are Dutch.
According to legend,
Europeans played
a moronic, muscular
version of the world's
game, until Holland
proclaimed its vision
of total football in the
1974 World Cup,
and enlightenment
dawned."
