Van Marwijk hails team effort
Friday 2 July 2010
Dutch Bondscoach Bert van Marwijk
was modest in his reaction to his team reaching the
last four of the World Cup after they beat Brazil 2-1.
"There will be some celebration tonight, but tomorrow
we will start focussing on the next game."
According to Van Marwijk Holland
were not playing to their abilities in the first half
hour of the game. "After 25 minutes we shrugged
off the restraint. But I was happy that it was still
only 1-0 at the time. After that we shrugged it all
off. In the second half we showed that we are a team."
"I said to my assistant Frank
de Boer during the interval: 'We still have a chance'.
I was right on that one. We could have scored four or
five goals. When you look at the relieve... we beat
Brazil. That is top!"
