Van Persie: "This game will be fantastic"
Thursday, 1 July 2010
Before the quarterfinal
against Brazil Robin van Persie speaks of one of the
biggest challenges of his career. "This game will
be fantastic. This is what it's about."
The Dutch center forward
thinks Brazil and Holland show some resemblance. "Brazil
have a strong and stable block of six. They provide
security. Apart from that they rely on four very creative
forwards. That's about how we do it."
Van Persie is convinced
Holland have a good chance. "When we work hard
we can go a long way. There will not be a big difference.
I think we are as good as Brazil. And when you add it
all up you may have to conclude that we have more players
who play for the real big clubs."
He thinks Brazil are
strong though: "They had a quiet start. And at
a certain point you see they start to grow. It's not
the real samba football of the old days, but through
stretches of their games I saw some great interchanges.
That's great."
"Every game is
a new adventure. And every time you can do better than
the one before. That's why I'm hardly ever satisfied.
Never actually. We can't stand still here. When you
think 'let's just continue this way' you're gone. Especially
when you play Brazil."
