Argentina, one of the greats of global
football. Strangely Holland have a very positive record
against the South Americans, but the most important
encounter between the two ended in the only ever Argentinean
victory: the final of the 1978 World Cup. All Dutch
football fans remember how Rob Rensenbrink hit the post
at 1-1 in the dying seconds of regular time, after which
that man Mario Kempes scored a brace in extra
time to seal the fate of a weakened (no Cruyff, no Van
Hanegem) and intimidated Dutch squad.
