... Czech Republic
It is amazing to see how often the Netherlands
find themselves paired to the Czech Republic. Since
1994 Holland and the Czechs met during three qualification
campaigns and twice during the European Championships
finals. The most famous encounter is perhaps the one
during Euro 2004, when Holland, lead by an incredible
Arjen Robben, took a 2-0 lead only to see coach Dick
Advocaat take Robben off shortly after half time. Holland
lost the match and Advocaat lost his job. The record
shows an almost perfect balance between two fine European
sides.
There is a separate record for the matches
against Czechoslovakia.
