... Malta

Malta have a very bad reputation in The Netherlands. Not so much because of the way they play football against the men in Orange, but rather because of the way they did not play against Spain on a Wednesday evening in december 1983. Some people cashed in that night (the whole administration of the stadium takings had oddly gone missing and the behavior of the Turkish referee was very peculiar...) and handed the Spaniards 12 goals and a ticket to the finals in France. As far as we know there has never been an official investigation by UEFA and no one has ever been prosecuted. A black page in European football...
