Hasselbaink To Take Cardiff To Court
Saturday 26 July 2008
The dispute between Jimmy Floyd
Hasselbaink and Cardiff City looks no nearer to a conclusion
with the revelation that the Dutch striker may take
the Championship side to court.
The experienced Dutch striker is
insisting that he was unlawfully released by the Welsh
club at the end of last season despite having a clause
in his contract guaranteeing him a further year at Ninian
Park.
The supposed clause stated that
if the 35 played enough games he would automatically
be granted a further year with the club, but Cardiff
claim that the former Leeds United striker verbally
agreed to waive the clause.
The PFA are now involved and Hasselbaink
has now admitted that a court case could be the only
way to resolve the dispute.
"It's not resolved yet. We
have to wait until we can resolve it. I would have loved
to have played another year of football with Cardiff"
he told Sky Sports News.
"I had a great year with the
club last year but it is not to be.
"It looks like it could go
to court."
