Loovens Looking For Cardiff City Exit?
Tuesday 8 July 2008
Cardiff City defender Glenn Loovens
has not signed the three year contract he was offered
by his club and is instead holding out for a move to
the Premiership.
The Dutch defender, long-time friends with Arsenal star
Robin van Persie, has impressed while with the Bluebirds
and caught the eye of many. His and Johnson's central
defensive partnership was the foundation for Cardiff's
succes of last season.
With only a year to go on his current deal, it is known
that two Championship clubs, including Coventry City,
have tabled £1m offers for the defender. These
have been rejected and is seems certain Loovens would
not leave for another club in the same division.
However, he has high ambitions and is desperate to play
in the Premiership, but City are said to be looking
for a fee in the region of £2.5m.
