George Boateng regrets choosing Holland
Tuesday 18 November 2008
George Boateng never got past four games in the Orange
shirt of the Dutch national team.
The 33-year-old midfielder, born
in Ghana, says he sometimes regrets opting to play for
Holland.
He would have loved to play next
to Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari and Michael Esssien
and defend the colors of his home country.
Boateng, these days playing for
Hull City in the English Premier League, preferred the
Dutch nationality at the age of 15.
He hoped it would give him a better
chance to play at his club Feyenoord.
"But because of that I can
not play for Ghana any more. I sometimes wish I had
made a different choice, because I didn't play an awful
lot of games for Holland," Boateng said in an interview
with French press agency AFP.
