Hull Get Serious Over Makaay

Premiership new-boys Hull City
are eying a sensational swoop for Feyenoord striker
Roy Makaay as manager Phil Browns looks to strengthen
his attack.
With all the signs suggesting Sir
Alex Ferguson will retain the services of Frazier Campbell
after an impressive campaign for the Humberside club
last season, Brown is preparing to leave the clubs
Italian Alps training camp to press on with securing
a central striker.
After a successful spell at Bayern
Munich, where he fired 78 goals in 129 appearances for
the Bavarian club, Luca Toni and Miroslav Kloses
arrivals spelled the end to his career at the Allianz
Arena.
The subsequent move to Feyenoord
came with mixed results for the Holland striker, with
the club under-achieving in the league but securing
the Dutch Cup, though managers Bert van Marwijks
appointment as the Dutch national manager appears set
to signal Makaays departure.
The 33-year old would be available
for around £1.5 million, well within Hulls
transfer budget, with Brown having already secured the
signature of former Manchester City midfielder Geovanni
on a Bosman and Craig Fagan in a £1.2 million
deal from Derby County.
The newly-promoted side are also
in talks with Middlesbrough veteran George Boeteng with
a view to securing the Dutchmans signature, and
an agreement is expected to be reached within days.
