Dirk Kuyt: "A bit of luck and the
ball went in"
Thursday 02 October 2008
Dirk Kuyt showed what he's worth
for Liverpool on Wednesday.
The hard working forward scored
the opening goal in a Champions League game in which
Liverpool beat PSV Eindhoven (3-1).
"I had a chance to shoot and
with a bit of luck the ball went in," he describes
to FC
Update.
"It was a perfect start, but
after that we fell back. Even though it wasn't our best
match, we still controlled the game for 90 minutes.
It was pretty obvious that we deserved to win."
For Kuyt it gave extra satisfaction
that he scored against a Dutch team.
"It's always a bit special
to play against a team from your home country. PSV have
shown to be the best team in Holland in recent years.
And with my history as a Feyenoord player it's a good
feeling to beat the competition."
With the maximum score from two
games Liverpool are on course for the next round in
the Champions League.
"That is what we aimed for
when we started. Hopefully we can take three points
from Madrid as well. They are tough opposition, but
I don't think we are without chance."
