Dirk Kuyt again Liverpool's hero
Sunday 19 October 2008
Dirk Kuyt keeps scoring important
goals for his club Liverpool.
He scored the winning goal a few
times this season, and yesterday he netted two to help
his team beat Wigan Athletic, the team of Mario Melchiot.
In the first half Kuyt scored the
equalizer after Egyptian striker Amr Zaki had put the
visitors ahead.
In the second half Zaki scored
a second to put his team ahead again and things were
looking bleak at that moment for Liverpool.
In the 75th minute Wigan were reduced
to ten by a red card for Valencia and it was after that
the home team were able to decide the match.
First Albert Riera put the two
sides level again, after which Kuyt gave his team the
three points with a magnificent volley, five minutes
from the end.
Liverpool and Chelsea are joint-first
in the table with 20 points from 8 games.
Chelsea ran riot yesterday on the
pitch of Middlesbrough, bagging five goals with a handful
of chances squandered and one goal disallowed for offside.
Former Feyenoord striker Salomon
Kalou scored two.
