Dirk Kuyt: "Don't worry, goals will
come"
Monday 22 September 2008
Dirk Kuyt said yesterday he is
not worried at all about the goal drought that has struck
the Liverpool forward trio Fernando Torres, Robbie Keane
and Kuyt himself.
On Saturday Liverpool were unable
to score against unfashionable Stoke, despite fielding
all three of their big signings of recent years up front.
Manager Rafa Benitez said afterwards
he thought his team need "more ability in the box."
An understandable comment as Torres,
Keane and Kuyt have scored only two goals in the 23
games they played together this season.
But Kuyt insists there are no reasons
to worry as they will start scoring.
"The goals will come for Fernando
and Robbie," Kuyt says.
"Both are trying hard, but
Fernando has had an injury and the Euro 2008 finals
to recover from. He lasted in them a bit longer than
me!"
"I went out in the quarterfinals
with Holland, so I have had more rest and a better pre-season.
Torres has not had that, but the goals will come again."
"Fernando is fit now. You
can see his quality, as you can with Robbie. We have
no worries, they will score plenty of goals."
