Baggies go double Dutch

West Bromwich Albion have secured
the services of two defenders from Holland’s Eredivisie
in a matter of hours with the news that Ryan Donk will
be joining Jonas Olsson in moving to The Hawthorns.
Olsson was confirmed as a Baggies player on Sunday
evening after the promoted side paid £800,000
to prise him from NEC Nijmegen, and now Donk, 22, has
followed suit by joining the Swede at Tony Mowbray’s
side.
The Holland Under-21 international joins West Brom
on a season-long loan deal, according to a statement
on AZ Alkmaar’s official website.
The capture of the Amsterdam native means Donk is now
the third defensive arrival from Holland over the summer,
with Heerenveen’s Gianni Zuiverloon also joining
earlier in the month.
The former RKC Wallwijk man becomes Mowbray’s
11th capture of a busy summer following the club’s
success in winning The Championship last season.
