End of season for Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Thursday 13 November 2008
The season is over for Ruud van
Nistelrooy
The knee injury that has been troubling
him in recent weeks has turned out to be serious enough
to keep him sided for six to nine months.
Van Nistelrooy first had knee problems
after last months away game to Juventus of his team
Real Madrid.
He then rested for three weeks
but during his comeback in the home game against Juventus
he again suffered knee problems and had to be replaced.
An examination in the United States
revealed a torn meniscus in his right knee.
On top the frontal cruciate ligament
and some cartilage has been damaged.
An operation is necessary and afterwards
a recovery of six to nine months is expected.
The injury is the same as the one
that kept him out for nine months during his last season
at PSV (2000/01).
The surgeon that operated on his
knee then - Richard Steadman - diagnosed his new injury
and will also perform the needed injury.
Van Nistelrooy played twelve games
this season for Real Madrid in which he scored ten goals.
