Schuster: "I must let Sneijder play
or he'll shoot me"
Sunday 05 October 2008
Wesley Sneijder will be back on
the field for Real Madrid on Sunday to play at least
one half in the game against Espanyol, Madrid coach
Bernd Schuster has said.
Sneijder hasn't played for the
Spanish champions this season because of a knee injury.
"But he has been training
magnificently during the last ten days," Schuster
said.
"He is looking very eager.
I must let him play or he'll shoot me."
Holland manager Bert van Marwijk
has named Sneijder in his squad for the upcoming World
Cup qualification games against Iceland and Norway.
But whether he will play at all
is unsure.
If so the only in the second game
against Norway, Holland boss Bert van Marwijk has said.
"I had a lengthy talk with
his coach Bernd Schuster and he didn't want me to select
Wesley. But I named him because I think at this moment
it's better for him that he trains with us, with a full
squad of 22 players, then in Madrid with only a handful
of players. Most of their players will be away on international
duty. The game against Iceland comes too early for him,
but we will see after one week of training if he's ready
for the game against Norway."
